Because Systemic Family Constellations work is an experiential and body centered process, it is more fully appreciated when participants allow themselves to be involved either as an observer, the client or as a representative. The work of identification and resolution of these issues is primarily conducted with the help of representatives who give voice to aspects of the interested party or system. Other experiential methods also use visual representation, although Systemic Constellations differ from Psychodrama and Family Sculpting in that representatives stand quietly and allow themselves to be internally impacted by the power of the family dynamics, manifest through the constellation that has been set up by the client. Allowing this process to occur, combined with the stance of the facilitator, is where the phenomenological method comes into play. In the constellation work, no other family members or partners need be present.
